My concept was STRONG and I wanted to show that strong could mean different things to different people such as:

Physical Strength; strength to hold heavy things for a long period of time, strength to exercise and build muscles. To be able to defeat your real life demons and win battles using nothing more than your body. This is physical strength.

Mental Strength; to stay calm in difficult situations and to be able to ignore problems people may give you. To be able to be mentally still despite the fact that the world around you is constantly moving. This is mental strength.

Emotional Strength; to be able to not only hold feelings in but to also have the strength to share your feelings with others. To be able to smile on the outside even though you may be dying on the inside. To be able to ignore your troubles and attempt to enjoy life. To put all your troubles behind you and move on, to wake up every day with a smile on your face even though you may have gone to bed with tears staining your cheeks. This is emotional strength

TV News Bulletin

Blog Questions

1) What were the five stories your group chose to

broadcast?

Greenford news story:  Sean Shaw saves man attempting to hang himself

National news story:  Birth outside Primark in Birmingham

London news story: Police appeal after man dies from biting his nails

Sports news story:  Suarez finally apologises for bite

Funny news story: Bum-baring bridesmaids spark new trend for FLASHING in wedding photos

2) For each story above, explain WHY you chose that

particular story and not something else. Why would it

interest a Greenford audience?

Greenford news story: We chose this story because its not everyday that you see a good news story like this being published. Most news is about all about the tragedies, deaths
and sad things in life, people never really get to hear about the good things going on. Also this news story is significant because it features a student from Greenford High School and many adults view teens as trouble makers and bad influences so this particular news story helps the public view teens in a more positive way.

National news story: We chose this story because it is quite surprising as its not something you hear about everyday also because Primark is quite a well known clothing department so the story is going to attract attention as it features a shop that is world renowned. Also because a birth is quite an exciting event in a persons life and the fact that it happened in such an unusual location is sure to draw attention.

London news story: We chose this story because it is a very interesting and weird story and is something that you wouldn't expect to happen also because it is something everyone has done at least one. Everyone has bitten their nails at one point in their life so the fact that a man has died from doing something that so many people do is extraordinary and sure to attract attention.

Sports news story: We chose this story because the 2014 world cup is currently going on and millions of people are watching the football, this news story acts as a follow up from the Suarez bite incident, many people will want to know the end result and sanctions Suarez faces. For these reasons many people will pay attention to this news story.

Funny news story: We chose this story because it is rather unusual but still funny. Weddings are celebrations that everyone loves and as the bridesmaids are respected women that the bride has chosen to help create her magnificent entrance audiences may be shocked at this new trend. England is a country all about tradition so this new trend will take the public by storm. This will cause audiences to pay attention to the news story.

3) What order did you broadcast the stories in? Why did

you place the stories in that order?

- National Story
- Greenford Story
- Sports Story
- London Story
- Funny Story

I placed the stories in this order because I wanted the news to be interesting but still informative so I decided to start it off with some shocking news then slowly break into some serious news like the Greenford story. After that I decided to do some sports because the World Cup is going on also to ease the heaviness of the more serious news story that had been said previously. After that I chose the nail biting in London story because it was weird and mysterious and lastly to end all the news on a lighter note I did the bridesmaid funny story.

4) How did you make sure the script was the right length?

I tried to keep the script short and to the point and to make sure that the script didn't over run past the set time I was given I set up a timer using Google and timed myself for a minute. From there, I adjusted anything that needed to be adjusted and changed anything that needed to be changed.

5) How did you make sure each story was clear and easy

to understand?

To make sure every news story was clear I spoke slowly and made sure that every word I pronounced was clear.

6) How did you make sure the broadcast was

professional?

In order to keep the broadcast professional I tried not to laugh and to not read straight off the sheet. I also tried to speak in a professional tone and speak in full English sentences instead of slang.

7) What was your specific role in the group?

As there was only myself and Klea, both of us did all the roles but i specialized in presenting.

8) Rate your group’s ability to work collaboratively out

of 5 (1=poor, 5=excellent)

I would rate my group's ability to work collaboratively 4 out of 5 because there were no problems and we always agreed on news stories and roles.

9) How could your group have worked more effectively

as a team?

We could have been less distracted and paid more attention to the task we had been set.

10) Finally, what would you have done differently if you

were given the opportunity to do this again?

I would have written the script earlier because I left it too late and because of that I didn't have enough time to practice and as a result I stuttered a bit in my final broadcast.
